[11]Oscar F. Morrill was an inventor. He holds patents no. 18,465 and 20,289 for improvements to a “vapor burner” for lamps, issued in 1857 and 1858, as well as subsequent refinements filed in later years. He also holds patent no. 15,143 which uses the vapor burner to head a handheld clothing iron (1856), and 40,703 and 55,340 which both use the vapor burner to heat a cooking stove (1863). He holds patent no. 60,223 for a faucet used for drawing oil (1866), and numerous other patents.
