Birthplace conflict, retained pending further record: the tree’s existing birthplace citation (Massachusetts Vital Records 1841-1910 Database, NewEnglandAncestors.org) states Boston, Massachusetts for Mary Ann Morrill’s 22 Oct 1856 birth. A second, independent FamilySearch collection (Massachusetts, Births and Christenings, 1639-1915) states Pittsfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts for the same date, naming the same parents Patrick and Bridget Morrell — both parents already confirmed on the family. The birth date agrees exactly across both citations; only the town differs. Both derivative indexes rest on an underlying original Massachusetts vital record rather than an image viewed to date. needs independent verification: the original Massachusetts state or Berkshire County town-clerk vital-record image for this 22 Oct 1856 birth entry, to determine which town was actually recorded and resolve this conflict.[10]

Two further independent FamilySearch collections indexing this same 22 Oct 1856 birth/baptism entry — a Massachusetts Town Clerk, Vital and Town Records entry and a Massachusetts State Vital Records entry (the latter’s page reference, ‘item 1 p 57’, matches the page number already cited in this record’s existing citation, almost certainly the identical underlying manuscript page) — also state Pittsfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts, agreeing with a third FamilySearch collection (Massachusetts, Births and Christenings, 1639-1915) already cited on this fact. These two citations corroborate the Pittsfield value; the Boston-versus-Pittsfield conflict is retained pending the original vital-record image.[11]

Mary Ann is referred to as “Kate” in the 1870 census.
