[6]The will of John Morrill of Salisbury, “gentleman,” was written four years before his death. In it he mentions Mary his wife, his sons John and Moses, his daughter Hannah wife of Daniel Osgood, and his daughter Sarah wife of Ilsley Greeley. He also mentions his daughter Mehitable, deceased, late wife of Ezekiel Currier. In addition, he mentions his grandchildren Moses, Benjamin, John, and Samuel, sons of his deceased son Benjamin Morrill, late of Kingston, New Hampshire. John Morrill is selected as executor and recieves the homestead and all land “which I bought of Jarvis Ring, John Ayer, Samuel French, and John Filander.” In the probate papers, the witnesses John Paige, Reuben Morrill, Abraham Morrill, and Robie Morrill refer to the deceased as “Capt.” John Morrill.
