[6]“Honest” John Morrill played Major League Baseball in Boston beginning in 1876. Over the years he played every single position. Although he pitched a couple of games each season, he was primarily an infielder, and had a career batting average of .216. In an incredible season in 1883, he batted .319, played six different positions, managed the team, and won the National League Pennant.
