Identity distinguished from Mary H. Morrill, wife of David Bump: that Mary bore a son, Augustus W. Morrill, in 1839 — roughly 95 years after this Mary’s 1 Mar 1744 birth — and so cannot be the infant daughter of John Morrell and Ruth Dow who died about 1745. This Mary is the 1744-born daughter recorded as entry 592 in the 1904 Ferguson/Morrell/Hodsdon family register, in agreement with Stackpole’s Old Kittery and Her Families (1903), p. 621; the two works may share an information chain through the same 1780/1784 will language, so this is agreement, not independent corroboration.[19]
NOTE: Death ABT 1745 is an inference from negative evidence, not a transcribed record: John Morrell’s will (written 1780, probated 1784) names only the first three children, and neither Stackpole (1903) nor the 1904 Ferguson/Morrell/Hodsdon family register records a death date for Mary. Needs independent verification: a Berwick, Maine town or parish death/burial record for Mary Morrell (b. 1 Mar 1744), or the original York County, Maine probate file for John Morrell (probated 1784).
