[5]Augustus Morrill came by way of Panama from New Hampshire to California in 1852, operating a group of drug stores. He moved to Mexico in 1861, eventually becoming a diplomat. He was United States Vice Consul in 1869 and was Consul in the years 1872 to 1881.
