The FamilySearch index of Find a Grave gives 30 August 1872, with birth 8 June 1870 matching the tree exactly; the FamilySearch index of BillionGraves gives 30 May 1872. Both indexes place the burial at Gray Village Cemetery, Gray, Maine, and neither states a place of death. The two indexes are probably transcriptions of the same stone and are not independent; they agree on the day (30) and disagree on the month, which suggests one month was misread, while the tree’s day (7) matches neither. No date is preferred over the others until the stone or a Gray town death register entry is seen.^[10]
