The earlier entry gave only 1924, at Blanc Montridge, France, citing the Readfield town records, which end in 1891 and cannot have recorded a death in 1924; that citation is preserved in a note on this record. The Los Angeles County death record index gives 2 February 1924 at Los Angeles, aged 85 (which fits his birth of 23 April 1838), father Samuel Morrill, mother Sarah Hutchinson (recorded here as Sarah H. Hutchins) and wife Mary E.; the year agrees with the earlier entry, and the day and place are taken from the record of the event. A second index entry for a Samuel H. Morrill dying on 10 March 1924 at Los Angeles was seen but not opened, so the day should be checked against the certificate. The tree also places him at Oakland, Maine, in the 1910 census; that entry is not examined here. She is taken to be the wife of Samuel Henry Morrill because she died at Los Angeles, where he died in 1924 and where their children Charles H. (1922) and Evie Gertrude (1915) died; those children’s records name their mother as Mary E. Greeley and Mary Ella Greely; and her age of 78 fits the birth of July 1852 recorded here. The name Mary Ella is taken from those records; the tree has Mary E.
