The daily newspaper’s obituary index carries two entries for him: one printed on 29 May 1965 gives the death as 28 May 1965, and a second, printed on 30 May, gives 24 May 1965; the earlier notice, which is closer to the death, and a user-contributed memorial agree on 28 May, which stands, and the Social Security index gives only May 1965. The memorial places the death at Pana, Christian County, and the burial at Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, while the newspaper index places the notice at Springfield. Needs independent verification: the exact death day and place and the burial place, which rest on index entries and the memorial; his birth day and place rest on his own draft card and are supported by the Social Security index. In 1950 he was farming in Rosamond Township.[8]

Mabel Fern Barber, daughter of William M. Barber and Jerusha E. (Josie) Ekiss Barber, was born on 4 February 1893 and married William Harvey Morrell at Pana on 25 December 1912. The marriage record gives her birthplace as Walker, the 1910 census gives only Illinois and indexes her father as William N. Barber, and the 1900 census gives her birth as February 1893. She died on 17 January 1974 and was buried at Rosamond; the obituary index estimates her birth about 1894 from an age of 80, while 4 February 1893 gives exactly that age on 17 January 1974. The Social Security Death Index gives only the month of death, January 1974. A Find a Grave memorial places the death at Pana, which no other record seen confirms; the obituary index gives only the newspaper’s city, Springfield, so no death place is entered. Needs independent verification: the birth date and place, which rest on index entries and an uncited memorial.[19]
