NOTE: needs independent verification: the five children (Ruth, Susie, Pearl, Charles Henry and William Harvey) rest on census and marriage index entries read as indexes only, with no page image opened. Ruth’s birth on 30 May 1881 at Pana rests only on her April 1955 Social Security application entry. The births of Susie (about 1883), Pearl (about 1886), Charles Henry (about 1888) and William Harvey (about 1890) are derived from ages given in census and marriage index entries; Susie’s ages (17 in 1900, 28 in 1910 and 32 in January 1916) point to a birth between 1882 and 1884. William Harvey’s death on 28 May 1965 at Springfield rests only on a newspaper obituary index entry (Daily Illinois State Journal, 29 May 1965). The 1900 census lists him as William H. (aged 10) and the 1910 census as Harvey (aged 20); the obituary names Harvey William Pana Morrell, and all of the marriage entries name Henry C. Morrell and Mary E. Dewitt as parents.
NOTE: needs independent verification: the marriage in March 1880, the wife’s name and the death, burial and birth day all rest on index entries read without a page image (the 1880 Christian County marriage record and the 1922 Illinois death record, both secondary or derivative). The death record gives his birthplace as Mt. Sterling and the day as 16 August 1859, where the 1860 census gave only August 1859 at Elkhorn; the 1880 marriage entry gives his age as 23 (about 1857), which is an age-derived figure. The death record places the death near Owaneco, in Johnson Township.
Mary Elizabeth Dewitt
NOTE: needs independent verification: the name Mary Elizabeth Dewitt comes from the same 1880 marriage index entry, which gives her age as 22, her birthplace as Montgomery County, Illinois, and her parents as W. H. Dewitt and a mother recorded as Bauffman.
Mary Elizabeth Dewitt Morrell died on 11 March 1895; the inscription as transcribed on a user-contributed memorial reads aged 34 years, 8 months, 19 days, which gives a birth about June 1860, while the 1880 marriage record gave her age as 22. The cemetery index and the memorial name her husband Henry C. Morrell and their five children. Her place of death is not stated. Needs independent verification: her death date and burial, which rest on a cemetery index entry and a memorial, and the stone itself.[12]

Richard Smith — m. in Millersville, Ill., 06 December 1910[21]
Richard b. in Preston, England, ca. 1864[24].
Ruth Morrell was known as Ruth M. Morrell Smith. Her death is placed at Moweaqua, Shelby County, Illinois, on a user-contributed memorial, while the obituary index shows an unreadable place; needs independent verification: the death certificate or the obituary clipping for the place of death. In the 1920 census she was a widow living in her father’s household, and in 1950, still a widow, she lived in the household of her sister Susie’s husband, Albert Beattie, in LaPorte County, Indiana. The 1963 obituary index names her sister Susie Beattie and daughters Mrs Edith Snyder, Mrs Ethel Busse and Mrs Hazel Benham.[26]

Clark Ulysses Roadarmel — m. in Rosamond, Ill., 10 February 1914[45]
Clark b. in Greenbush, Mich., 01 April 1882[46]; d. in Pana, Ill., 23 January 1961[48]; bur. in Fairview Cemetery, Christian County, Ill., [49].
Known as Pearl E. Roadarmel after her marriage; the Social Security correspondence index gives the name as Emma Pearl and her memorial as Pearl Emma. Needs independent verification: her exact birth day (23 May 1886) rests on a Social Security index entry and a user-contributed memorial, which agree with the 1900 census month of May 1886; her exact death day (17 February 1962) and the state-level place rest on that memorial alone, the grave marker photograph confirming only the years 1886 and 1962.[50]
