Fred Walter Morrill is the son of Charles Walter Morrill and his wife: the 1910 and 1920 censuses list a son Fred W of 1 and 11 years in their households, and the 1930 North Carolina marriage index of Fred W names his father as Charles W Morrill and his mother as Gertrud. His birth on 12 January 1909 at Valdosta, Georgia, rests on his 1940 draft registration card; Valdosta is the only evidence that the family lived in Lowndes County then. The 1930 marriage index estimates his birth about 1908. The Florida Death Index entry of 22 May 1972 at Palm Beach is for a Fred W Morrill born 12 January 1909; that identification with him rests on the identical name and birth date, not on named parents. Needs independent verification: a birth record naming his parents, and a record of his death naming a spouse or a parent.[5]

The 1930 North Carolina marriage index names the bride Mildred Nachman, aged 21 (about 1909), and her parents as Louis Nachman and Viola Nachman. Her age there is not followed: the 1920 census (aged 8), the 1930 census (aged 18) and the Social Security Death Index all point to her birth on 27 April 1912, which is the date recorded. Needs independent verification: a record of her own birth.[20]

The obituary index of Mrs Anne Morrill Johnston names her father as Fred Walter Morrill and her mother as Mildred N Morrill; Morrill is taken as her birth surname and Johnston as her married name. Mildred N is taken to be Mildred Nachman, the bride of Fred W Morrill in 1930, by name and place. Needs independent verification: her birth record, or the newspaper obituary itself, which was not read.[23]
