Orren Frank Smith lived at Rockport, Massachusetts, in 1940, with his wife Lura, and the Social Security Death Index gives his last residence as the Essex County, Massachusetts, postal area (a state of Florida also appears in the entry) with the death in January 1979. Needs independent verification: the day and place of his death, which that index does not give; a Massachusetts death record or an obituary would supply them. His 1942 draft registration, which gives the same birth date as his Lynn birth record, names his employer as himself.[5]
Lura Thurston
Lura Thurston was the daughter of Henry H. Thurston and Susie (Lane) Thurston of Rockport, named in her birth entry and in the 1900 and 1910 censuses, which also list her sister Helen; the 1900 census index reads her given name as Sara, which her March 1889 birth and Rockport parents identify as Lura. Her married name was Lura T. Smith. Needs independent verification: her death date and place, which rest on the Massachusetts death index and the Social Security index (month and year only), and her birth, which rests on a single index entry of the Rockport town record.[14]
